Assistant Teachers
Location: Norristown, PA

Summary

The Montgomery Early Learning Center has Assistant Teacher in the Pre-K classroom at the Norristown Center at 1117 Arch Street, Norristown, PA 19401. This is a full-time position with a Flexible work schedule. Must be flexible to move work schedule from 9 to 6pm or 8 to 5 pm as needed. MELC’s benefit package is very competitive.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education with 2 years experience in childcare.

• CDA with 2 years experience working with younger children

• High School Diploma with 15 credit hours from an accredited college in early childhood education, elementary education and experience working with younger children

• GED with completion of a post-secondary training curriculum

Duties include but are not limited to supporting the head teacher in:

• Developing and maintaining records and reports as requested by federal, state and local agencies and by the Agency

• Completing and maintaining children's records as appropriate

• Recruiting new families

• Maintaining a high level of satisfaction with currently enrolled families

• Interpreting the MELC program to outside agencies, organizations, and groups including parents, as appropriate

• Developing and administering the center's program objectives and activities

• Maintaining child/staff ratios

• Participating in regularly scheduled staff meetings

• Participating in MELC in-service and outside training programs

• Participating in fund raising activities

• Maintaining appropriate standards of confidentiality at all times in regard to center, staff, children and family matters

• Inventorying and maintaining all classroom/center supplies, furniture, materials and equipment

• Maintaining the physical plant in compliance with DPW regulations to insure sanitation and the safety of the children and staff

• Participating in transportation arrangements, as necessary

• Participating in the plan for licensing and monitors' visits

• Reporting suspected cases of child abuse to the appropriate staff

• Fulfilling any other duties/responsibilities as required for the successful operation of the center.

• Must be physically capable of performing tasks which may include, but are not limited to, lifting, carrying, supporting, and otherwise caring for children - infant through school age.
