Carmen Weachter-Gatti
Director of Southeastern PA School-Age Child Care Project

Carmen has primary responsibility for overseeing and guiding the work of the Southeastern Pennsylvania School-Age Child Care Project of MELC. This includes the development and implementation of innovative professional development and technical assistance activities in support of school age and early childhood programs in the 5 county southeast region of Pennsylvania. As Director she is responsible for the management of the Project including budget development and oversight, daily operations, supervision of Project staff, creation and implementation of work plans, identifying and seeking new/expanded funding sources, negotiating contracts with agencies and businesses, and the preparation and submission of all reports to funders. Carmen has a BA Degree in Child Development with an emphasis in School-Age Care from Concordia University, St. Paul, MN. Carmen is an active board member for the Pennsylvania Association for the Education of Young Children and the National AfterSchool Association. She was instrumental in the development of the School-Age Care Credential which is recognized by Keystone STARS as comparable to the CDA (the Early Learning Credential).

Carmen has three children, Tiffany, Alicia and Francesca. She lives with her husband Frank in Akron, PA.
