Childhood Chatter Session on October 24th

How to Encourage Self-Regulation in Young Children
 
In this one hour interactive presentation, we will explore the different factors that contribute to children’s social emotional development. Using materials from the Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning, participants will gain insight on the reasons behind children’s challenging behavior and discover new strategies that will encourage children’s self-regulation and problem solving skills.

Read for the Record is October 6th!

On October 6, 2011, more than 2 million voices will call for an end to America's early education achievement gap by reading Llama Llama Red Pajama by Anna Dewdney – setting a world record in the process! Sit down to read in your community. You'll be standing up for children everywhere!
 
Kathy Killian, Vice President of Employee and Community Relations at the Philadelphia Phillies has confirmed that she will read at Narberth Center on Thursday, October 6th at 10:30am as part of  Read for the Record. Kathy is also on the Governor’s Commission for Early Childhood Education. She will be reading Llama Llama Red Pajama to our preschool children.  All our other MELC centers will have special guest readers as well!

MELC School-Based Program Schedules for Rosh Hashanah

For the Lower Merion School District Programs: The school district will be closed on Sept 29th and 30th, but MELC will be open and consolidating at the Kindergarten Center at 230 Haverford Rd. in Wynnewood.
 
For the Colonial School District Programs: The school district will be closed on September 29th, but MELC will be open at Ridge Park and Plymouth with consolidation as follows:
Conshohocken and Ridge Park will consolidate at Ridge Park.
Whitemarsh, Colonial and Plymouth will consolidate at Plymouth.
 
For the Jenkintown School District Program: Jenkintown School District AND MELC will be closed on Thursday September 29th.
