Lower Merion School-Based Programs provide quality extended-day care to children ranging from kindergarten to fifth grade in all Lower Merion School District elementary schools. Before school care begins at 7am, and kindergarten enrichment is offered in two sessions during the day to supplement the school district’s half-day program. Afterschool care continues from the end of the school day until 6pm. All Lower Merion school-based programs participate in Keystone STARS, a voluntary, state-funded quality initiative. Our school-based programs provide a safe and fun environment for children to spend their out-of-school time. Our qualified and friendly teachers provide creative activities to keep children engaged and are available for homework help. Lower Merion’s programs incorporate “Quirkles” curriculum, which integrates science and language arts with colorful books and experiments for the children. As enhancements to our daily programs, fun-filled activities include foreign language lessons, music, Mad Science, sports, Briar Bush Nature Center, and Color Me Mine Ceramics. Special events at the Lower Merion schools include talent shows, service projects, a pot luck thanksgiving dinner, book parties, and a carnival for parents and siblings.
